    67 conv frame issues

Hello all, have a a friend who is doing a 67 coonvert frame off.(350 horse) Once the body was off frame he saw several really bad places around the kickups, and all over. Would he be better in the long run replacing the frame or perhaps welding it up. Thinking since he will have a lot of money inthe car, why not buy a new frame, skip all the hassles of running it around and then having the hassle of explaining to any future buyer what the previos frame issues were. Can anyone tell us, who out there is making new frames for 67 converts? Your help and comments greatly appreciated....

Vette Products of Michigan is the manufacturer of new frames and repair components for existing frames. While I have not purchased a complete frame, I have used their repair sections with good results. The last repair that I did was replacing about 2/3rd's of a frame. Top quality.

      Hi Tony:

I have heard about a company in Michigan that makes all-new frames using the original GM drawings, so it is probably the company that Dick Whittington mentioned. I have also heard that the frames are quite good.

I seem to recall that a brand new frame from this company costs about $4,000. Good used frames appear to cost $2,000 to $3,000.

If I were in the situation your friend is in, I would be VERY tempted to just buy an entirely new frame. With a used frame there is still some risk of undetected problems with either rust or mild accident damage.

Cranes Corvette in SanDiego always lists good used Clifonia frames as well as repros. Anyone ever try them?
