    @%#+!! WCFB!!

Seventy two degrees outside, got out of work at 3:30 thought I'd take the 60 out for it's first run of the season, just to blow the winter dust off, you know? Well I finally broke down and bought one of those battery tender thingies so the motor starts turning on the first hit of the key...after a few moments and a lot of peddle pumping, the motor starts but the choke didn't set along with the high idle. Hmmmmm...changed out that stove spring and housing last year...oh well after two minutes I won't need it anyway. So off I go. Stop at the first light and the rpms fall throug the floor pans. Stall, Damn, off again and pull up in front of my daughters house and STALL, Damn. Now it's hard to restart. I'll bet that damn choke is closed. Yup! What the hell is going on here!

Ok Guys, I'm fed up. Before I pull this sumbitch and install a Holly, I'll give it just one more try. Where can I go to get a good reference on the WCFB and it's choke. My Vette manual is sorely lacking on the carb. MY 56 Belaire service manual is just marginally better. HELP!

      Don,

      Try this link off Amazon.com....http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...s=books&n=1000

It is for a technical book on how to tune Carter Carburetors. Good luck.

Before you give up, give it to Bob Kunz in St. Louis. I had no luck with anybody until I took it to him. Now it works fine. If somebody elsr doesn't give you his phone number, let me know, I have it at work and I'll be there tommorrow.

                Bob Is Great

Bob did my carb and was great. Told me everything I needed and priced it out before he started work on it. Easy to work with. I found the turn around to be fine. Better then a lot of others. He runs your carb on a engine and makes sure it's working right. Put the carb on filled the bowls with gas on a brand new rebuild. It started perfect and all I had to do was turn the idle screw a little. High idle worked fine and the kick down. Would use his services anytime and highly recomend him. Mike

I'm amazed at all the troubles with WCFBs. I put kits in mine (early 57s) , set them up and haven't touched them in 3 years.

Bob Kunz, I have heard alot of good about him.

                  Bob.

I had my WFCB restored at Chicago Corvette (Al was the restorer) and it was the best two or three hundred dollars I ever spent. I got it back installed it and one turn of the key and it started right up and has ever since.
