I need to buy four new rally wheels for a driver '76. I am more concerned with balance, trueness, and overall driveability than judging accuracy (my judged car is rarely driven). Last year there were several posts which discussed currently available rally wheels for C-3's. A number of posters questioned the quality of the K-H wheels available at the std corvette supply houses. Specifically cited were problems with Runout and Trueness. My question is this: Wheel Vintiques sells a rally wheel for corvettes that they manufacture themselves. It appears to be well made and accurate enough for a driver. Is this an accurate copy and does anyone have experience with its quality and trueness? Thanks.

Re: C-3 repro rally wheel quality
Those who true steel wheels simply mount them on a stub axle fixture, affix dial calipers to measure the outer rim as the wheel turns and look for concentricity (radially + axially along the outer rim) to be within 20 mils (below 10 is better). What is the mfgr's spec for concentricity on his repro wheels? You can measure/confirm it yourself...- Top
