This sounds like a very time consuming job. The only way I can think off that you could accomplish this, would be to painstakingly wet sand off the top coat. Hopefully there isn't any body damage that you aren't aware off lurking underneath. If not, you could then buff the existing original paint out.
Unless I find a better solution..a total wet sand is probably what I will do. By the way..I flew on the 777... on trips to China when it first came out..it had the most comfortable seats. However I did like the upstair seating on the 747 better overall...and the 4 engines.
