I am in the process of getting my 1960 corvette ready to send to the paint shop. The car has had a new press molded hood surround installed, which fit beautifully. One problem I noticed was that the hood surround has a slight depression on both sides of the fender tops (best seen when looking down the tops of the fenders - where the stainless moulding will eventually install), located aprox. in the mid section. I have looked at a few pictures of finished cars, which appear to show some indentation. Could someone tell me if this is normal, and if not does anyone have an idea to remedy the problem? Thanks, Tim

Re: 1958-1961 hood surround
Tim, from your post I cannot tell which direction your depressions run. Are they front to back, or side to side?? My '58 has the original surround and there is a slight depression front to back approximately half way down the stainless, but you really have to look closely.- Top

Re: 1958-1961 hood surround
Hi Tim: I think my first attempt to respond got lost. I'll try again. I noticed an ealier request for paint code info on a silver blue '58. I have an old manual with paint code info for solid axles. Do you think its worth publishing. I recently used it when I painted my Crown Saffire '59 Fuelie using Dupont acrylic lacquer. If you think its worth doing something with the list just let me know. Its easiest to reach me at my office email at dfarmer@hrpdc.org. See ya. Dwight Farmer #5033.- Top
