    Casco lighter question

My Casco 63 lighter won't "latch" in my 1966. The element heats up if I hold it in. Can this be fixed? New housing or new element?

    Re: Casco lighter question

There are prongs at the bottom of the lighter socket. Disconnect the battery and with a small screwdriver bend the prongs in just little and try it. If it still will not stay in long enough bend the prongs again and retry.
Sometimes the prongs are rusted enough that they will break. If they do it's time for a new socket.

Randy - The original receivers had 3 pronges to latch the element; while the later replacements have two. The two will work with a bit of adjustment; but as you might guess the three works the best. I don't think the one with the two pronges contacts the lighter element at exactly the same location as the one with the three pronges. Good luck. Pete
