Is there a proportioning valve in the C1 brake system? If so where is it located? Thanks, Jimmy

Unless you have a front disc brake conversion, you don't need one. C1 drum brakes should all require the same pressure, hence no need for "proprtioning".

There is NO proportioning valve in a C1 brake system. The only 1953-82 Corvettes that ever used a brake system proportioning valve were as follows:

66-68 Corvettes with J-56 HD brakes (adjustable type valve)

78-82 Corvettes (fixed rate valve combined with distribution block/pressure differential sensing switch).

That's it.

Proportioning was accomplished with different size wheel brake cylinders front and rear.

As well as bigger brake shoes on the front. Even the 57-62 Vettes with HD brakes had bigger front shoes.
