Re: C2 (66) Carpet Final T*******
Hi again Dave,
-------When t******* in the areas you mention as well as the door sill area you do have to be careful. I learned a long time ago to trim down a bit at a time if there is any doubt in your mind. Obviously, you need enough up under the console to hide the tunnel, but if there is too much carpet underneath the console you wont get it to fall into place. I always leave a bit more carpet under the armrest as there isnt as much of a clearance problem there. As long as the two sides dont overlap its OK. Hope this helps some..........Bill S- Top

Re: C2 (66) Carpet Final T*******
Dave, when I did the black carpet in my 66, I used two sided tape to temporarily hold the carpet on the trans tunnel. I set the center console and arm rest in and screwed them down. I then took white chalk and ran it along the edge of the console. I removed the console and cut 3/4" above my chalk mark. That gave me enough room to catch the edge of the carpet and not have a lot of excess. When you finish with the cut light brushing of the carpet will take the chalk dust off. Spray with 3M adhesive and place the carpet on the tunnel.
Measure twice, cut once! Good luck.

Re: C2 (66) Carpet Final T*******
Dave,
I think I sent you some photos, but here's another. This is of my 67, so the e-brake and some other cuts might be a little different. The original GM label is still attached under the carpet flap, so these are the factory cuts. This is shot from the passenger's door looking into the car. Also, I have the cuts just where the tracks make contact on the carpeting, I think your 66 has them all the way down bewtween bolt holes. There is a good view of the concole cuts, so I hope this helps!

Re: C2 (66) Carpet Final T*******
Dave, I am sure you know this but I will pass it on anyhow since you are in the carpet installation procedure. When it comes time to install your seat belts, take a pencil style soldering iron (the round tip) and use that to burn your carpet hole so that the seat belt retaining bolts slide right in. This accomplishes two things - 1. it is a neat and clean way to ensure that the bolt fits in without any stray fibers 2. the carpet won't unravel as time goes by. To locate the hole, use an ice pick or other suitable probe to find the bolt hole and then insert your hot soldering iron until you achieve the desired objective.

Re: C2 (67) Hey Dave!
Davie,
Here's another one of the heal-toe on up to the area near center console, including the capacitator that fell to the floor from behind cluster. These are original, so you can see how far away from the console the factory made their cuts. I don't have the arm rest like your 66, so I can't help out with that question. Good Luck!

Re: C2 (66) Carpet Final T*******
Gary,
I assume that you made two short vertical cuts inthe carpet where the cushion meets the back of the console so that the carpet could be layed down under the cushion and so that the rear of the console will set in place properly?
