I have read the judging manual, and can not find if goldwalls could be ordered with any exterior color. I want to put goldwalls on a maroon 66 conv., with judging guidelines is that acceptable? Also would gold and maroon look Ok? Just in my opion it looks good, but I only have seen 1 car with maroon and goldlines.

Re: 66 Vette, whitewalls or goldwalls??
They would look fine on a maroon car but i heard somewhere that goldlines were not available during part of 66 due to a strike at the plant. I don't know how true that is but if your car is to be judged you may want to ask around.

Re: 66 Vette, whitewalls or goldwalls??
As near as I can tell, the generally accepted view on Goldline usage seems to have been that they look great (assuming you like Goldlines to begin with) with darker 65 & 66 (the years of Goldline option availability) colors like Black, Green and Maroon. I am in agreement with this view, and have evidenced my vote by putting Goldlines on my Milano Maroon 65 (Goldlines on modern performance radials courtesy of Diamondback). In the end, it's what you like that counts, of course.65 MM Convertible, L76 (365 hp)- Top

Correct radial sizes
The original 7.75 - 15 can be replaced with either a 205/75R15 27.1" diameter witha 6.1 tread width or a 215/70R15 26.9" diameter with a 7.0 treadwidth. Both are common replacements. More and more, customers are purchasing the 215/70R15's. You will have NO clearance problems with the 70 series tires.
My .02 worth....Goldlines.

Re: ? 195/75R15 too small
A 195/75R15 measures only 26.3" tall with a 4.9" treadwidth and a 7.6" cross section. In the last three years I have never sold this size tire to a mid-year corvette owner. The original vintage Firestone 7.75-15 measures 27.36" with a 4.7" treadwith. Your choice is getting close to the original tread width but lacks the diameter of the correct size. A 205/75R15 in our SE radial model measures 27.1" diameter and 5.1" tread width. Don't you think that this might be a better choice?

Re: ? 195/75R15 too small
Ron just made up a set of their 205/75-15 "Supreme Si" Firestone redlines last month for my '67; great-looking tire, and puts about an inch more tread on the road than the 205/75-15 Cokers I had on the car before.

Re: ? 195/75R15 too small
I agree completely with your suggestions. The 195/75R's would look like they belong on a Corvair and the 215/70R's are too short to look anywhere near correct. Makes a 63-67 look like a go-kart or some 17 year old kids new mini muscle car. I've been using 205/75R's for years and their the perfect size.- Top
