    '72 LT-1 EMISSIONS LABEL

I just recieved my judging manual and it is great!!

My '72 LT-1 emissions sticker code is LK and is part number 6271008. The manual states that this should be for a '71 base model w/NB2. At the bottom of the label it states that "THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO FEDERAL AND CALIFORNIA REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO 1972 MODEL YEAR NEW MOTOR VEHICLES" Does this mean that my car is a California delivery vehicle? It is also serial #00085 with a CRT engine code which may be unique. Maybe the CRT code has something to do with the California emissions??? I would love to have this car judged before I start to restore it and this web site is just awesome...

    Regards,
    Billy

P.S. How do I update my profile. I have a new e-mail address and the "EDIT PROFILE" link does not seem to exist....

    Re: '72 LT-1 EMISSIONS LABEL

Billy, we would like to see your car before you start restoration. The CRT has been an unverified engine code. Chevrolet listed it but stated that none were built. Stanger things have happened. There are several Regional events left this year, Seaside, OR, Berkley, CA, Bowling Green, KY, Cincinatti, OH, and Waco, TX.

The Edit Profile link was working yesterday as I changed my email.

Hey, Billy I was just looking through my engine book and found the CRT block an
      d says it's a LT-1 255hp m/t NB2(A.I.R) system for 1972.

        Re: '72 LT-1 EMISSIONS LABEL

The NCRS spec guide lists three codes for '72 LT-1s - CRT. which has an air pump, and CKY, which does not, so the implication here is that CA models had an air pump and 49 state models did not.

The third LT-1 code is CKZ that was part of the ZR-1 "off road" package for racing - only 20 built.

I believe that ALL 72 LT1's had an air pump, if not all the cars produced that year. I haven't seen a 72 LT1 that didn't come with an air pump.......

            Re: '72 LT-1 EMISSIONS LABEL

Billy, I have a '72 LT-1 that was built in Dec of '71 #09786. It has a pump. I'm sure all of them did. It shows an "LP" on the emissions sticker, and the block is stamped CKY. I didn't think they built any with the CRT stamping.

              Re: '72 LT-1 EMISSIONS LABEL

Thanks Guys for all the responses. I agree and understand that all '72 LT-1 Corvettes were equipped with the smog pump and there is a discrepancy in the publications which only cite the CRT engine as having the NB2 option. It is interesting, but not the first time that GM records have been incomplete or incorect.

              Thanks,
              Billy
