    '66 BATTERY GAGE INDICATIONS

At idle(about 650rpm), at night with the lights on, the gage indicates a disscharge, and indicates charging when the rpm is increased during driving. I'm not having any problems with the battery holding a charge, and the gage appears to function fine. I was just wondering if these are normal gage indications. The alternator appears original and rebuilt.

It's not unusual to show a slight discharge at idle with the headlights on, then show a charge at normal driving rpm; you should show 13.5-14.5 volts across the battery terminals with the engine at 1500-2000 rpm if the charging system is doing its thing.
