    71 Lt-1 windage tray

The bottom end of my 71 LT-1 engine has not been opened up yet, but will be soon. Can I expect to find a windage tray in that year? Also, what identifying marks if any can I expect to see on the rods?
    Thanks Steve

    Steve-----

Many, if not all, 1970-72 LT-1s (non-ZR-1 type) were equipped with an oil baffle. This baffle, GM #3989075, was a shortened version of the GM #3769768 baffle used for small blocks with "6 quart" oil pans (i.e. 63-65 with SHP and 70-72 ZR-1). The GM #3989075 baffle was discontinued without supercession in October, 1992.

The connecting rods were originally identified with a "splotch" of pink dye. This dye may or may not still be present. If it is, it likely won't be pink any longer. The forgings, themselves, were identical to those used for all other 69+ 350 cid engines so there is no way to tell the rods apart from any differences in the forging.
