    62 F.I. Hydro-Lock revisited..help.....

    My first msge. had a typo... It's a 61 not a 62..
Put it up on the hoist, drained oil, took pan off. Then took oil filter canister off and to the parts washer. Looking inside, I saw what appeared to be a grey substance around the bottom, a Very small amount.. Could this be anti-freeze in oil ?? Never seen it at any filter changes. Now I'm suspecting a blown head gasket... Did a compression test on cylinders...
All but one read a nice 170 lbs. The # 2 read 110 lbs. Now what ??

What does that tell me and where do I go from here ??

It's like looking for a needle in a small block....

    Thanks again for any info.......

Rotate the crankshaft so that #2 is in the down position and then see if the rod is still straight.

the grey stuff could be lead from the gasoline. the low compression on 1 cylinder could be caused because that piston is not coming to the top of the bore because the rod is bend.

I had hydro-lock bend two "pink" rods and break pistons on a 4000 mile replacement CE short block. I now use a solenoid in the fuel line. Don H.
