'66 grill brackets; natural or semi-gloss black?

I'm restoring the grill area on my '66. Can someone tell me the correct finish for the four horizontally oriented grill brackets that are riveted with a total of 8 rivets to the fender skirts? These horizontal brackets are the ones that the vertical grill brackets in turn attach to. The '66 JG doesn't talk about the finish of the four horizontal brackets, but the ones I'm removing look like they might have been painted semi-glass black. Can anyone confirm this for a late build date '66?

The other question I have concerns the other two vertical grill brakets that are riveted to the girll with two rivets each. The JG says these two brackets are semi-gloss black, but the ones on my grill are so rusty that I think they must have been natural. Is the JG incorrect regarding these two brackets being semi-gloss black?

    Thanks,

    Gary

Re: '66 grill brackets; natural or semi-gloss blac

Both sets of brackets were semi-gloss black.
The set riveted to the inner fender were in position prior to black-out, so, the front should be blacked-out to match the rest of the grill opening.

        Michael; A follow-up question

        Michael,

I assume the J-nuts that attach to the brackets are natural, until the blackout process and then they will have blackout overspray?

Originals were natural, same as the cowl vent clips, they were added after blackout.
