This is one of the best car commercials I have ever seen. No trick photography or gimics. Supposedly, it took something like 600 takes to get it right. LARGE download so don't try it with dialup.

Michael:
Rrrrreally big shew! Great! At least in the British Empire. This commercial would not work "across the pond" for many reasons:
1. Most folks here don't understand the physics involved in the filming.
2. There are no images of nubile young waifs dreaming about this vehicle.
3. Most gearheads wouldn't be caught dead driving a minivan.
4. After 3 seconds of non sexual content, most Americans' eyes glaze over
and finally
5. There is no accompanying, blaring soundtrack of a classic oldies/motown/rock song, any of which, most of us formerly enjoyed, but now see as a sellout to commercialism.

Re: Best Car Commercial.....
I agree Joe, lotta people don't understand the physics involved in all of this. I'm still trying to explain how the tires rolled uphill, to my X girlfriend. Still trying to "splain" a lotta things to her tho.
I've watched this probably 15 times now and still see something I missed every time I watch it again.- Top

Re: Best Car Commercial.....
Jim,
Each tire had a weight mounted inside and that heavy spot was positioned near the top so the tire could be placed/balanced on the ramp without moving. All it took was a slight bump to make the weight go forward, over center, and make the tire roll, even though it was rolling up the incline. I think there was also some explanation of some of the things that were done in the text in the "here's the story" writeup. Very interesting story.- Top

Ok, thought so but wasn't sure if you were serious or not. When I tried to splain to the x, she just had that blank, "no one home" look in her eyes. (Yea, she's a blonde) (I probably shouldn't have said that. be gettin email from blondes all around the country now)- Top

Re: Best Car Commercial.....
I was kidding on the second post."I should have known that", would have been more truthful. At least I understood the explanation, but perhaps thats because I am a" balding blonde" so awareness increases in propotion to the loss!

Re: Best Car Commercial.....
I know the feeling well. Every morning, when I see a hair laying in the sink, I pick it up and stare at it, wondering, "what held it in yesterday"?? What changed? And then, hair stops growing out of our scalp but starts growing out of our ears instead! Very interesting, this aging process.- Top

Re: Best Car Commercial.....
Actually, the entire movie set was tilted 49 deg to the right so the tires just rolled downhill naturally. Ok, just kidding. The real truth is, there were gerbils inside the tires and, on cue, they ran toward the uphill side, changing the c of g.- Top
