    67 seat latch

Can someone explain the back seat latch. Mine don't, the lever releases the catch but when I close my seats it doesn't go under the reciever on the seat. It looks as if the hardware is under the cusion backing, can you repair it without tearing the bottom of the back seat cusion apart.

    Thanks Kevin

    Kevin,

Sounds like you have a sticking latch. Remove the seat back from the chrome side trim so you can work out of the car. Take the rigid seat back off and you can see the whole latch system. I cleaned mine up with WD-40 and when the latch works easily put it all back together and your good to go.

Thanks to John hinkley, he suggested I move the bottom striker, I didn't think it moved.
I'll be an SOB! that did it, that simple 5 minutes. Sure as hell glad I didn't tear the seats out today, I knew it was working just not catching. It's the first time my seats have locked since my dad bought the car. Now I'll pass my OP's check 100% Next I'll need a tip on fixing a new scratch. I have paint and thinner, once I paint in the scratch how do I blend?

          Kevin,

Glad to here you got it to work. I thought your latching mechanism wasn't closing around the catch as mine wasn't because it needed cleaning and lubrication.

            Wayne,

Not that I didn't try to take it apart I got stuck at how to take off the cover. After a few tear sounds I gave up and was going to live with it.
