C2 Frame Cleaning

I have a '65 Convertible and I've noticed that the frame has a build up of grime and dirt in the rear kick-up area where the trailing arm attaches. I know that this is an infamous area for corrosion (mine appears to be in good shape) so I want to clean the dirt out of this area and maybe even spray some rustproofing oil in there. Does anybody know a good way to clean a C2 frame with the body still on? Should I just dig out the grime, pressure wash, blast with air, etc? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

If you're cleaning out the kickups, all of the things you mentioned are candidates. I would be careful with the pressure wassher around the fiberglass. You might check the archives. I seem to remember someone reporting that they cleaned and repainted their frame with the body on. It may have been as long as 2 years back.

Hi Bill , I was planning on doing the same on a 67. I plan on using a 1300 psi pressure washer with Degreaser & spray wash. Taking care not to put force on rubber boots. I don't have a lift , so I will do one side at a time. Don
