C1 Gas Shocks

A good friend of mine is looking to replace the shocks in his 1960 C1. I have installed KYB Shock on numerous C2s and C3s with satisfactory + results however I do not know how the C1 will handles with these gas shocks. I would appreciate any input on installing KYBs on a C1. Other than the shocks the suspension on the 1960 is in good to excellent condition.

I put Delco gas on my C1 a couple years ago

And it rides so much better I feel like a darned fool not doing it years ago. The old shocks were pretty stiff, so I dunno what you'd be comparing them to.

Hi Bill, I came across some input on shock on the C1's on the Solid Axle Corvette Club's website. It was under "C-1 Tips" by Noland Adams. It said "GM sells 4 levels of shocks. Use the cheapest ones for the 1953-62 Corvettes. They are oil filled. The others are gas shocks and they are too harsh for the old Corvettes".

I've ran gas shocks for 20 years and air shocks in the rear to pull my trailer in our 55 and it rides better then our 67 coup.

I aint' buyin' it! The Delco Gas I have are

very compliant, the very last word anyone would use to describe them is "harsh".
