    C1 - Fast Idle

My 59 245 Powerglide idles at about 1000 rpm cold engine start. I think it should be about 1700 rpm. The curb idle is 450 in drive and the brake set. The idle in park is about 550. How can I get my fast idle up to 1700 and not disturb the curb idle?

Fast idle is controlled by a cam attached to the cholke by a link,. There is a seperate adjusting screw for the fast idle on some carbs, but not all. First step is to close the choke and adjust the link (on the drivers side of a WCFB) to make sure the cam is positioned on the highest step with the choke closed. Adjust as necessary. Then you can adjust speed from there.
