    1967 restoration

Having found the tank sticker on my gas tank, I want to know if I add value to my '67 Roadster to go back to as close to original as I can. Seems that I have the original motor, but it now is in 390HP set up, and tank sticker shows 400HP option. Engine suffix is JC.

    Dave,

Without a doubt, returning your car to the original tri-power configuration will add to it's value. I just hope you are sitting down when you find a nice 400 horse tri-power setup.

Believe it or not there is a 400 hp complete tri power induction on Ebay right now, I do not remember the year but it may be worth checking out. The 400 intake is considerably more expensive than a 435 in an excellent example of supply dictating price . Also remember that Jerry Luck has many connections and seems to find induction systems when others can't, a good source.

        Wow,

It is a #374. The carbs look pretty crusty. The price right now is $700.00. It would be a good deal if the bidding doesn't go out of sight.

I'm curious as to why the 400 would be different from 435. Is current reproduction equip less desirable than finding the induction system for correct year on say E-Bay?

            Hi Dave:

If your question asks about the configuration differences, the 400 hp is an oval port engine the 435 is a rectangular port engine. I don't know of anyone reproducing a tri power intake manifold and if originality is the target aftermarket just won't do, to say nothing of "numbers correct". Current intake technology is light years ahead of what was available thirty years ago and the current aftermarket single four barrel intakes and carburetors will outperform any vintage tri power induction system if performance is the objective, they won't look as impressive though and the hi riser intakes will not fit under the big block hood anyway.

Jerry, thanks for the info inre the right way to go on tri power set up. Another task at hand is to re do the soft top weatherstripping. Many repro vendors offer what I need. Are some better than others as to fit and quality? Prices seem to be close. Any suggestions out there?
