the two bolt main 942 isn't too rare but few full size chevys came with the 425 hp 4 bolt main 942. go to carlisle in august, ad in driveline, hemmings etc.don't forget to get a block built a month or so PRIOR to the vette's build date. good luck. mike

Same casting was used in different passenger car & truck applications. What makes a 'Corvette' engine is the suffix code(s) wacked on the stamp pad designating the basic block was internally and externally configured for Corvette.

On availability, well any casting that's now 40 years old is going to be harder to come by than a newer engine. But, they're out there!

Thanks, John, I need a block for a 66 vette built 12/21/65. I guess any block before that date, what was typical 4 to 6 weeks before? Thanks again to everyone for the help.

Well John, I guess you have an engine I could use. No just kidding. Also you have the very desirable 425hp, mine is a 390hp. I wish ncrs kept a data base of engines that people may offer for sale. Maybe we could reunite a lot of engines to cars?

It would be a time consuming task, but worth it to the few owners that could find there blocks. I have a 66 vette 427 block with the correct corvette stamped pad, but I need a 67 vette 427 block. I would be happy with a correct block even if it was not THE original block.

                    Re: 67 351 Block

George. I am greatful for your consideration. Unfortunitly, I need an October 1966 or eariler block. I have a 1966 block and an early 1968 block, plus the 1966 block in the car.

Thank you again for the thought. I hope the guy that was griping about the corvette hobby reads about your kindness.

                      Re: 67 351 Block

Jon, what is the date of your early '68 block? I am looking for a 3916321 2 or 4 bolt with a very early date (before early September of 1967). Does anyone know the first date of production for the '68 year models? Thanks, g.
