    56 Wipper control cables

What is wrong with this picture ? Cable from washer pump connects to motor so
it can push on and springs back to off. Cable from wipper switch connects to
motor to push only but can't work against washer pump spring. Am I missing something ? It's a 56 -no plastic slider.

Washer pump cable is NOT connected to wiper motor slider but wiper motor case
Washer switch IS connected to wiper motor slider and case that is needed to turn (pull) wiper motor OFF if foot pump was used.
    Are we understanding each other?????????

Thank you, Roy. So the washer cable only pushes on and does not
turn it off. It will keep running until you switch it off.I have a
picture of a car with the washer cable on the inside position and
wipper control on the outside. I followed this as it connects properly.
Reversing them may not line up properly with the slider. How do I make
wipper cable connect to the slider - I only have a bare wire right now.
