Re: 1959 speedometer
You'll have to pull the cluster.Disconnect the battery and remove the 5 screws on the bottom, Disconnect the oil pressure line, tach and speedo cables, and the lights and wires. There is a good picture of the wiring and light layout in the ST12, Once you have the cluster out of the car, removing the speedometer is very straightforward.- Top

Re: 1959 speedometer
I know from experience it can be done without removing the cluster but it is a real pain... Disconnect the battery, remove the seats and put a matress of foam so you are more comfortable, remove the steering wheel to ease the job. Remove the bolts holding the speedo, remove the speedocable and carefully get it out of the cluster. You might need some special tooling to get to the bolts...

Re: 1959 speedometer
I just removed mine and there are a couple of tricks I learned.
1. Go ahead and remove the whole cluster. It is probably easier this way and you do not need to remove the steering wheel.
2. The vertical screws to hold the cluster in the dash are located in the semi-circle part of the cluster housing. I had to search a while to figure this out.
3. Place a towel over the steering column when you get ready to pull the cluster to avoid scratching it.- Top
