    1967 Owners Kit Contents

Can someone tell me what came in the 1967 Owners kit from Chev? I have a kit with a letter from Estes, Card with name and vin, Blue folder and issue of Corvette News. I also have a lapel pin and Corvette patch but I'm not sure if they came with the 67 or the 61 kit. Thanks for your help

    Rick,
The pin definately did not come with a 67 owners Kit. I've had the same question about the patch and have never got a verified answer one way or the other. Hopefully some original owner will assist.

Rick - Here's my recollection about the new car delivery items.

      1. "letter from Estes", "blue folder" are two I haven't the slightest idea on.
      2. "Card with name and VIN" I have. Is that what some folks call the protecto-plate? It's like a credit card, and affixed to the book.
      3. Corvette News wasn't delivered with the new car. It started to show up in the mail shortly thereafter (free). It continued for a number of years until 197X? (I've got every issue I received, and could count if you'd like.)
      4. I'm virtually positive that no lapel pin came with the delivery. Perhaps this was more of a dealer initiated action? Perhaps the dealer had pins, but the saleman just choose to not give them out? Or didn't care one way or the other?
      5. There was no Corvette patch delivered with the new car; however the same case may be made as that for the lapel pin. Dealer initiated action, and some did...some didn't?

      Hope this helps.

      Tom

        Originals contained five pieces:
        Plastic pouch
        Radio Sheet
        Trim Ring or Bolt-on Card
        Warranty book with Protecto-Plate
        Owner's Manual
Sounds like you need to visit the book store on this site for a judging guide, it's all in there.

          Michael,
You have the glovebox contents right but the question is about the Owners Kit. FYI the Owners Kit is the package mailed from Chevrolet Motor Division to the original owner of a Corvette when he/she returned the tear out card from the front of the owners manual.

The original question asked has elicited responses that weren't applicable to the question.
The question has to do with the kit that was received when the owner mailed in the tear-off card from the front of the owner's manual.
I can only answer that in 62 there was a blue binder, letter from GM, patch, card (not the protecto-plate, but a gold-hued card that had the VIN of the car typed on along with the owners name), lapel pin, and most-current Corvette News. That was also what activated your Corvette News subscription.
That all was very different from the owner's packet which came with the car, which indluded the envelope (earlier paper--later plastic), owner's manual, wonderbar or AM-FM instruction sheet, etc.

I've never seen one. Anyone have one?

There was recently an original unused example of the 1961 or 1962 Owner's kit offered on eBay. Item #7966195649. Although it was bid up over $700, it did not meet reserve and did not sell. It includes the blue folder, an owner's card, a patch, and a lapel pin. It can still be viewed on eBay. Of course, this doesn't answer the original question of what was included in the Owner's kit in 1967, but it does show what was included in 61 or 62.

This description is correct, so what's the question?
                  H. a. N. D.
Oh, also, the blue binder had a square die-cut provision for the small clear plastic box that the pin came in.

                      Michael,
The 67 Blue Owners Kit folders were unique to that year and no square hole for the pin existed in the cover. You may be confusing the 66 with the 67.

The small, gold Corvette "OWNER" pin was only included in 1956 thru 1966 owner's kits.I believe that the pin came in a small plastic box with a clear top and a light blue bottom. The pins are being reproduced and are not cheap. I can only guess the value of an original. The Corvette patch was made of a felt-like material. The packet or folder that contained all the "gifts" and info was different for every year. I think the 1967 folder said "Welcome to Team Corvette" on the front.

My wife would like to know what the patch and pin in mint condition would be worth?

                              Don,

------Are you sure about the 66 part of your answer? I thought the pins came all the way thru 1969. If you are a Corvette pin connoisseur you know that there are three or four variations of pins over the years. The differences are minor but noticeable. I have always felt that they must have had more than one vendor and the blueprints supplied by GM were interpreted slightly differently, but I have no concrete info to base that assumption on.
------I used to have non-gold reproductions of the pin and copies of the patch available in my booth at BG. The pins couldnt be told from original by the naked eye and were only $10.00. That way you didnt have to use and potentially lose the more valuable originals. I still have a few patches and pins left, but since Im not vending at BG any more I guess Ill put em on E-bay or something...........Bill S
