C3 Wheel Well Area Hardware Finishes

The trailing arm castle nuts and cotter pins along with the door ajar wiring access door bolts are the hardware a natural finish or are they painted black?

The original GM #3774712 castellated nuts used for the trailing arm forward bolt were black phosphate finished. The cotter pin was plain steel. You can still purchase the nuts from GM, but they're not phosphate-finished anymore. Now, they're zinc plated with an irridite over-plate.

The sheet metal screws used for the access plates were black phosphate.

I believe that the access plates were just dip-painted semi-gloss black.
