63 A-arm reinforcements

I'm trying to determine the aprox time by VIN # when 63 lower front A-arm's (control arm) began to appear with the reinforcements that were welded in place. I have VIN 15099 and have a non-reinforced right side and a reinforced left side. I think the left side has been replaced due to previous accident damage. Does anyone know the change over date or does anyone have a car with VIN after 16000 that can tell me which style they have?

The tech manual says early to mid cars were non-reinforced, and late were reinforced. I just need to confirm the changeover time.

Hi Boyan -

I own #21102, and I'd love to help. On what page is this discussed in the Tech Manual? My Table of Contents says Section 25 is the Front Suspension and Lower A-Arms should be on page 139. But my page 139 is one of those yellow update pages, and it just talks about brakes. There does not appear to be any discussion of Lower A-Arms!

My manual says pg. 139, second paragraph, last few sentences. The paragraph is under Lower "A" Arms, ball joints and hardware. It's under the front suspension section. Also, anyone know if I can use Impala A arms?

I have a Third Edition that I got about 18 mos. ago. My page 139 has only one paragraph - brakes - over half the page is blank! I would be MOST APPRECIATIVE if you could scan and send me a copy of your page 139!! I can't believe this.

Gordon, do you have a FAX # I can send it to? I dont have a scanner and wouldnt know how to use one.
