The PV manual and the Judging manual says the air control knobs and the radio knobs are illuminated by "indirect" back lighting. I do not know what this means. In a dark garage and with my instrument lights on I do not see any light any where near the knobs. If they are to be lighted, what is lighting them up. I see no bulbs on the assembly manual diagram so do not see how they would get any light.
Can anyone shed any light on this? (Pardon the pun).
David it is not the knobs that are illuminated, just the knob location in the dash. The illumination location is the plastic piece mounted on the dash. This is how I remember my 64.
David, There should be a small bulb clipped to the bottom of the clock. the lamp assy is housed in a steel case, round on one end with some small holes, clip made on the other end. The bulb light is directed at the back of the switch bezels. Hope you find it.. Kurt
The "torpedo lamp" looks like this - it clips into the slot at 6 o'clock in the clock receptacle. A/C cars have two more, at 4 and 8 o'clock. Note that it won't work unless the clock is installed and connected - the "torpedo lamp" gets its ground through the upturned end of its clip contacting the outside of the metal clock case. Kinda funky, but Chevy watched every penny, and it saved the cost of a ground wire
