To all senior judges,
I recently had an Al Knoch soft top with a zippered back window, for very hot Arizona summers ( Al cut the material himself ) made for my unrestored 1958 Corvette. It is date stamped & has the washing instruction label. If I have it flight judged in October, how many points will be deducted for the zippered window ? I bought a restored 58 soft top frame to put the zippered soft top on. My idea was to keep the original soft top, still in very good condition for its age, have the seams restitched & put back on to the original frame. The (very rare) cloth covered weather stripping & mohair is in very good condition. I am trying to be extremely careful & cautious in the preservation of this very rare unrestored 58. I use this car & do not want to use the original soft top. It cannot be judged for Bowtie. I am just trying to keep these parts intact for historical preservation. Should I be lucky this time to get flight judged in October, is it going to be worth all the trouble & expense putting back the original soft top ? I spent a small fortune this past March to be flight judged, only to miss the cut. I don't want to go through all that expense again for no reason, if I am not going to lose that many points, I will just leave the new soft top on.
Thanks,
Deb
