I just reinstalled my windshield washer motor and when I turned the wipers on, I got a distinct clicking sound. I immediately shut them down and am wondering if I didn't align the washer motor properly when re-installing. Any ideas?

Re: C2 Windshield Washer/wiper Clicking
There's a small hole in the washer cover, and a corresponding small hole in the washer cam. Remove the washer and use a small drill bit to hold the hole in the cam and cover in alignment. Reinstall the washer, and remove the drill bit.

Re: C2 Windshield Washer/wiper Clicking
I wasn't attempting to operate the pump at the time. Just the wipers. With the racket it was making, I didn't even get around to testing the pump yet. Sounds to me like it is just misaligned. I'll try the drill bit method.- Top

Re: C2 Windshield Washer/wiper Clicking
Mark,
Just in case.......A friend with a 65 had a clicking noise develop when he turned on his wipers....turned out to be an electrical wiring problem that almost started an electrical fire.....best of luck with finding the problem......- Top

Re: C2 Windshield Washer/wiper Clicking
Mark, I had a similar situation and asked the same question on this board and got many good clues as to the cause of this noise. Check the archieves Jan of 2004 and you will find many suggested causes of this noise. I pulled the washer front plate off, ran the wiper motor minus the front plate, and the clicking sound was gone. I examined the front plate and couldn't see any place where it had been hitting the washer pin gear. I reassembled it after cleaning out some of the old hardened grease and the noise is now gone. I suspect it had been apart before and the part of the cam that fits over the washer pin was not aligned with the pin.- Top
