    69 Yenko corvette

How do I know it's authentic? Value? Supposedly in fair condition.

    Re: 69 Yenko corvette

    Dennis,

Please correct me if I have mis-interpreted your question, but it sounds like you are referring to a 1969 Corvette already equipped with the L89 427/435 aluminum head engine option and not just a 1969 Corvette that was sold by Yenko Chevrolet.

I'm sure I'll be readily corrected, and I always appreciate a new learning experience, but from what I understand, Yenko special ordered performance options for many other Chevrolet models. I haven't heard of any special "authentic" Yenko package for the Corvette, 1969 or other. Yenko's packaged options for other models (like the Camaro) were already factory available to the Corvette line, made to order, and installed by Chevrolet.

Regardless, any price information will be subjective to its originality and condition now. TBarr #24014

      Re: 69 Yenko corvette

As far as I know, Yenko only built Camaros, Novas and Corvairs. I've never heard of a Yenko Corvette (unless like Tom said that it may just be a stock one just sold by the Yenko dealership).

        Bob,

I don't have that much information about Yenko, but I think Camaros, Novas and Corvairs (that one I didn't know) were about it. I'm sure it is less than the "many" Chevrolet models that I stated previously. TBarr #24014

Re: 69 Yenko corvette... Tom, a note of trivia...

...in case you were interested. I believe that Yenko built Corvairs first, primarily for racing purposes (possibly for IMSA or SCCA). Then came the Camaros and Novas.

Re: Got any more of trivia?

            Bob,

Interesting. What was he using for an engine? Also, have you heard of anything like a Yenko Chevelle or Mailbu? Seems I've seen mention of them somewhere too, but I could be as mistaken about those in the same way as the "Yenko Corvette" has been. TBarr #24014

              FYI,

Yenko also sold (at least a few) S/C Chevelles. Many people think S/C was for "Super Camaro", but it was actually for "Super Car".

Well here we go. Yes to the Yenko Corvairs, they were known as Stingers and a few still exist in SCCA today.Somewhere in and around 1966,on the Monza platform, turbo'd if I'm not mistaken. The real kicker was the transplants into the 1967 Camaros,427's with subtle badging. Then came 1968 and the same thing, but now a custom hood, Firebird 7" wheels, and more special badging.1969 was the most monumental, as now the COPO option 427 Camaro's had become availible.Yenko proceeded to outfit the cars with a number of performance op...ie;headers,tuned exhaust(chambered pipes),Atlas 5 spoke 15X7 mags, and even a dual gate shifter for TH 400 cars. Not to be overlooked,Yenko also produced 99 427 Chevelles(also on the COPO program), and a number of 427 Nova's,which are still being discussed as transplant cars.1970 was a year of cotraversy, as insurance companies started to clamp down,so the offering from Yenko was a COPO Nova with a LT-1 350,known as a Yenko Duece.A few other cars made it through the hands of Don Yenko before his untimely death, result of a plane crash,(another passion). Of note, it was Yenko that piloted the car in the 1968 at Sebring, with teamate Pedro Rodriquez.(A '68 with L-88 power)
