Any suggestions for steering column bearing grease. I cleaned the bearings up and would like to replace the grease with something similar to what was in there. It sort of reminds me of spedometer cable grease, dark brown color and very sticky. I want something that will stay in there and not run out over time. Thanks, Terry

Re: Steering column bearing grease, suggestions.
I would recommend a full synthetic NGLI #2 "multi purpose" grease.
A good candidate is Valvoline High Performance Synthetic Grease, which should be available at most auto parts stores in grease gun cartriges. It's suitable for wheel bearings, chassis lubrication points, U-joints/CV joints, and most general purpose greasing requirements.

Thanks for the responce!
I will check it out.
Just a side note...I was digging around in my junk and found some singer sewing machine gear grease in a tube. Looks just like the old stuff that was in my column but not all dried out. Hmmmm, very very sticky too. I think the key is to have something that will stay put and not run out with heat and slow movement.
Kind of interesting. Thanks, Terry- Top
