Re: Birdcage Rust Repair on C-2

    Hi,

I have the RH rear quarter panel removed from my '63 convertible and I noticed that there is a small rust-through hole (1/8" x 3/8") near the bottom of the No. 3 body mount on the exposed birdcage (normally hidden by the panel). The metal around the hole seems relatively solid.

Any advice on how the effectively repair the hole, before bonding on the new quarter panel?

    Thanks,

I would take a pick and poke around and verify that the remaining material is solid. If so, just weld up the hole, grind and primer it. If not, then fabricate some sheet metal for the repair section and weld that in. I've just been through this on both #3 mounts, the passenger kick panel plus the base of the windshield pillars.
