    1965 Control Arm Bushings

I'm replacing my '65's control arm bushings, and was surprised to find the current polyurethane bushings' outer shells have been tack welded to the control arm. I've not seen this before and wonder if anyone can shed any light on why someone might do this -- the bushings are a very tight fit, so I don't think it was done to compensate for looseness.

    Joel -

"Bubba" is everywhere, especially with poly bushings. Grind off the tack welds, remove the old shells, finish the holes smooth, and press in OEM rubber bushings; they'll probably only last another 30 or 40 years
