    value of a 65 fjulie

I have a lead on a 65 fulie coupe. It is supposed to have 22,000 original miles # matching. The car has ps pb and a 4 speed. The only one in the driveline I saw was advertised for 79k.I have not seen the car as of yet but would like some input. It is sliver with black interior. Also has air, I don't know if it is factory or not.Any help would be appreciated.

Not positive for '65, but '64 fuelies used the six quart oil pan which elominated the room for the steering boost cylinder. I'd be surprised if '65 is different.

Same for 1965..........no p/s, nor steering dampener because of high capacity oil pan causing clearance issue.

Documentation is great but it's getting to the point where I question a lot of that too. I've seen some pretty convincing paperwork on cars that are actually phony. One red 65 FI car that I know (very well) as a 365 HP car is now an FI car with a pile of paperwork, incluging warranty book, proving it's an FI car. I know the original owner and he still has the original warranty book and bill of sale, clearly showing the 365 HP.

Some very talented people have learned how to make phony documents look 30 or 40 years old.

I advise anyone considering the purchase of an expensive Corvette because of some paperwork, and little else, to at least consider paying an expert to inspect the car first. It's money well spent.

65 FI cars are easy to tell as there would never have been any holes drilled in the original front fenders/bonding strips for the crossed flag emblem. If this area is sanded smooth and covered with black paint on the inside, it's a clue that the original holes have been filled. If the seller isn't willing to remove paint in this area for inspection, look for another car.

No Corvettes were ever available with FI and A/C or P/S.

Pagemaker, coffee or tea, and a microwave seem to work wonders for documentation.

My brother's friend bought an absolutely mint, low mileage, documented '65 fuelie coupe at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale earlier this year for $85K. The auction atmosphere usually makes for somewhat higher prices so let that be your guide. But he is car savvy and felt that it was worth every penny.

They might have taught ya everything ya know but they didn't teach ya everything THEY know. That Doc is a pretty slippery character so keep an eye on him.

Ya mean things like NOS bottles under the dash, cutting the casting #'s outta the back of a block and welding them in another block? Slicker than greased pig ....

The NOS bottle was there just to help get him to church on time and that thing about the casting numbers was only helpin a friend that had a block in his pickup with no casting numbers at all. That's what I heard anyway.

I went to look at the car today. It has no air or ps or pb as I first stated. The car looks good. New paint, numbers ont the engine and the hg code are correct. The 3 on the fuel injection unit is correctas well as the alternator. it looks pretty correct but I am not an expert. The dealer that has it has no paperwork. Also it has no cross flags on the front fenders? It does have the fuel injection emblems and they are fastened with screws and speed nuts on the back. What else should I be looking for? Thanks in advance.
