    Re: c2 headlght adjustment

    Brad,

    If a pair of headlights on 63-67 open together, exactly, it's pure luck and not by design. They never opened or closed at exactly the same speed on brand new cars so trying to make them operate at precisely the same speed today is not required unless you want this just for your own personal satisfacton. I don't think there would ever be a point deduction unless there was a substantial difference between the two assy's. If there is a substantial difference in speed, you may want to discuss this with the rebuilder.

      Relying on memory here, but isn't there a tension adjusting screw on the headlight motors that controls their rate? I went to a seminar on rebuilding these motors about 10-12 years ago and I know I rebuilt my 66 headlight motors after that.

        Gary,

        There is an adjustment screw at the end of the hsng but it's function is only to control armature end play. I suppose it would also adjust the speed, for a short time, but would eventually cause something to wear rapidly and the shaft would then create it's own end play.

          You could weld or bolt on a torsion bar to each bucket and they would come up together.

            Not possible- pure luck

            I have spent many many hours with my hands tucked into the (expletive) headlight area trying to do what you are trying to do. I think its an impossible task. You can get them to sychronize in one direction only with the adjusting screws on the wye bracket. Theorectically, if everything was in perfect alignment you should be able to have them sychronize in both directions, but I think you are wasting your time. I have had many hours of frustation, and many bad words said to my 67 baby.

            Actually I'm hoping someone who has done it will chime in and tell us how.

              Re: c2 headlght adjustment

              Brad;

              The only solution is to rebuild and lubricate both motors, with their associated pivot shafts, and pivot balls, exactly the same way. Even then, they will probably not cycle at exactly the same rate. Any delta less than 5 seconds would be welcome. I have usually gotten the delta to be less than 3 seconds, consistently, but I cannot tell you why, except that I pay very close attention to detail.
              If you want to know the acceptable delta, then refer to the Performance Verification And Operations Guide For 1963-1967.

                In addition to what others have said, make sure you have a good ground on both. Clean the area where the ground wires attach of paint and rust.

                  We could get some EE's on the board to come up with a closed loop synchronous control circuit

                    That would be simple....

                    Install two stepper motors and one stepper controller. They would step in unison. The existing limit switches would still work.

                      Verle, Oh you are making it too easy, I was thinking of current monitors with software driven hardware
