    C1 Dash Pad Install

I'm in the final stages of installing a new dash pad in my 60. The next step I'm facing is getting the front edge of the pad glued down into the windshield channel. Is it acceptable to make some small cuts in the pad material as I get to the sides of the windshield channel where it curves? I'm guessing it will help the material lay flat and not kink up. Any thoughts or advise from others that have done this job?(I have been following the excellent articles written by Loren Lundberg and others which have been very helpful, just a little unsure on this step.) Thanks in advance.

I just put a dash on my 60. You want to make some small cuts around the curve of the windshield on the vinyl edge (should have about an inch to a inch and a half of extra vinyl without padding on it along the windshield channel edge) that is what you will need to make your small cuts. You don't need to cut the padding. There maybe some extra padding sticking out over the edge where the windshield gasket flap lays. That can be trimed very carfully. It helps if you use a heat gun to make the vinyl a little soft and workable (be carefull, not too close with the heat gun). The riser edge of the windshield channel and the edge of the vinyl will be all you need to glue. You will need to glue some areas where the vinyl comes down behind the kick panel, package tray and top center console trim moulding area is about it! Hope it helps.

Where did you find the aother articles?

I just got my windsheild post back from the plater (long story) and can finally re-assemble my windsheild.I plan on installing my dash pad and windsheild this Saturday. So I could use any advice I can get.Do you have a picture of how to trim it under the steering column and along where the endcaps go.

      Good luck with your project

        Larry...

Al Knoch videos are rough, but they are also excellent of walking anyone thru dash pad,and carpet installations.
