Is the body supposed to be cutout and uneven as shown in the attached pictures on a '62? I am pretty sure the subbody unit was never removed. There seems to be a very uneven/cut-out opening and the thickness has filler?
The car looks to have been painted twice in its lifetime? The subbodies are painted body color for one of the paintings (headlamps, cups, chrome rings and front bezels were removed before painting) and at another time they taped off the headlamps and the front of the chrome rings and painted away. Not sure how the 2nd time was really done. There was red paint on the hidden part of the chrome rings under the body bezel and on the front of the cups but not the back or inside. The body bezel screws were also unpainted. I guess it really does not matter.
