Re: C1 Top Tank Hoods
Dennis,
Yes and no. The top tank radiator did require the use of a new style hood that had the front edge of the ledge moved forward to clear the new radiator support which had the front, top support bar offset to the front of the car to clear the thicker radiator. The clearance issue was not to the radiator itself, but the new support. All cars after early 60, had the ledge moved forward, and in 61 there was an notch added in the ledge to clear the upper mount clamp for the radiator that replaced the top-tank. That being said, there were 59 style hoods being used on early 60 cars that were not equipped with top-tank radiators until the stock was used up. You allways have to be careful when buying a hood advertised as a 60, to assure that it is not a leftover 59 style hood! The 61 and 62 hoods are functional replacements, but will be easy to spot by a judge since they have the notch for the top clamp.
