C2 dash pad skins

Is this a difficult job? do the pads have to come out to reskin? What is the process? Is it worth it?

I haven't tried to reskin yet, but I imagine not too difficult. You might have to use a heat gun or hair dryer to get skins soft enough to go over old ones. I believe the radio side panels have a tighter fit after pads reskinned, another member told me after he did his. I believe the surface needs to by void of defects because they will show through new skins. The pads need to come out. This is a pain, or was for me. There are some "X" clips down near the radio that are really hard to access. I had to pull whole dash to get to them. I think Al Knoch has skins, you might give him a call. I know many of the places will charge you a fee to do the reskin process for you. Here's a shot of the lower dash where small hands might be helpful to access "X" clips.

I had mine reskinned with Corvette America skins by a professional. New skin stretches over old. I trusted this to a professional. I had a little problem getting the radio side panels in afterwards but eventually worked out the problem.
