I have had some high quality plating done here in Michigan by Hajjar Plating. They are an auto bumper plating shop by trade and I had our 1969 Corvette bumpers and valve covers done by them.
Depending on your location, you will probably prefer a shop in your area. Some platers work via a core system, others will do your own parts. I am sure that when I had our parts done they far exceeded the GM specs for 1969 Corvettes.
Here is the information I have for Hajjar:
Hajjar Plating Service Inc.
734) 722-9040
LOCATION:
38300 Van Born Rd
Wayne, MI 48184
Good luck with your project!!

Thanks. I have two sources in Fort Worth, Texas. I had two sets of original flash chromed big block valve covers that needed rechroming that needed rust removed and small dents and pings removed. I explained to the plater that I didn't want glitzy show valve covers with the dripper dimples covered up. I wanted what GM did back in the '60s and '70s. Just like what the Judging Manual describes. The plater did it. Dullish satin-like flash chrome with that orange peel look. I was looking for other plater references other than what I knew.
