Jim,
on the 57 seat belt question if I place bolts thru the holes in the driveshaft area is there room to use a washer between driveshaft and the hole, also hole seemed very small do Ijust keep that same size hole and just put a normal lock washer and nut on other side thanks
paul
Paul,
I,ll have to go from memory here (healhwise I best not crawl under my '56. I think I can help though. Yes, I recall the whole in the fiberglass body was small. I might have used a 5/16" BOLT, NOTHING SMALLER.CAN'T RECALL IF THE STEEL BACK UP PLATE WAS TAPPED O NOT. DON'T THINK SO. I DO RECALL LATHE CUTTING DOWN THE BOLT HEAD WIDTH TO GAIN EXTRA CLEARANCE WITH RESPECT TO THE DRIVSHAFT. BOLT HEAD TOWARD THE DRIVESHAFT UP AGAINST THE REINFORCEMENT PLATE YOU WANT TO "MASSAGE" THIS AREA AS THIN AS PRACTICAL YET KEEP STRENGTH IN THE ASSEMBLY FOR IT'S INTENDED JOB (KEEP YOU IN THE CAR). ON THE NUT SIDE WHICH IS ADJACENT TO THE CARPET I USED WASHER, LOCK WASHER OR LOCK NUT. CAN'T RECALL.DO RECALL FIRST TIME USING ASTANDARD WASHER AND NORMAL SIZED (WIDTH) BOLT HEAD INSERTED FROM THE DRIVESHAFT SIDE. THIS ARRANGEMENT THE BOLT HEAD LEFT A SLIGHT MARK ON MY NEWLY PAINTED DRIVESHAFT! OBVIOUSLY NOT ENOUGH CLEAARNACE. HOPE HIS HELPS. REGARDS, JIM
