    C1 windsheild lower trim

    I am building a 1962 vette and Last month I replaced the glass (well almost the chrome plater sent me back some one elses corners REAL LONG STORY) so tonight I installed the corners and I just cant figure out for the life of me what holds the lower stainless in place.

    It locks into the lower channel with the gasket. Needs to be installed befrore the glass is installed.

      Ed when you say lower channel do you meen the channel on the car? Or do I have to disasemble the windsheild asembely?

        I'm refering to the steel channel that the glass, gasket, and molding all fit into. The bottom piece into which the T-bolts fit. Yes, I think you will have to disassemble the w/s. If you try to force the molding into the channel with everything else in place, there is a strong possibility of breaking something. Do you have the ST12? There are pretty good assembly directions there, and as I recall there is a cross section diagraqm of the lower channel.

          I am not sure of what the st-12 is.

          I was able to get it all together with out cracking the glass.I will take it back apart and try Again

            The ST-12 is the factory service manual for C-1's. It is available from the NCRS bookstore, or any of the catalog vendors. Kind of a "must have" publication for C1 owners.

              Larry -

              The "ST-12" is the C1 Shop Manual, called "1953-1962 Corvette Servicing Guide" on the cover, with "ST-12" in the lower right corner; it's the only Shop Manual GM issued for C1's.
