66 console

The center console has a depression between the painted center part and the outside chrome part.Also the same depression surrounds the ash tray and shifter area......
Now as to my question .......is this depression area to be Painted or left with the chrome showing?
And while anyone else is at it , any how to tips would be welcomed!

Jim,
From the originals I have seen, the depression was painted console color. You should carefully mask around the inside edge of the chrome ridge with thin masking tape, mask the rest of the unpainted areas, and then spray console color.....maybe two very light coats so as not to cover up the texture ingrained in the console......good luck with it.
