I like his price - $400 and days to go.

Of course, ebay insanity is still alive and kicking. Try this speaker.

I'll bet everyone that has a radio in their '63-'67 has at least one Air car speaker. One time when I was on an antique ink bottle kick I came across a clear antique ink bottle with a rare top on eBay. The "rare top" was the metal cap and wire that held the cork in from a champagne bottle. The bottle was antique, the cap was not.

A fool and his money... Don't blame the seller... people ( 11 OF THEM) wanted that old speaker with the plug cut off it. I bet the cone is all dried out and the voice coils are shot too.... But someone won that bid...

I once went to live auctions a lot and being the people watcher/analyzer that I am I noticed that the objective to win the item became secondary to who's going beat who to get it. Often people get so wrapped up in the emotion of the bidding they lose sight of the item's actual worth both present and future. We've all done it at some time or another.
Sometimes I think people go to fanatic extremes to have everything correct on their cars and it's usually fueled by guides, manuals, and peer pressure. And so the prices on eBay for Corvette parts reflect that fervor.
Corvettes are an American passion and there's everything right about that.

Its already gone guys. Just wait until the state and federal taxes hit. Right now it is down, If you have a item listed no one can bid on it. 1015 PM in Albuq. N.M. Dale

No, the air speaker was unique to air cars, being it was flatter than the standard speaker. However, as in all things in the factory, that is not to say that a "wrong" speaker wasn't put into some cars if they were working fast and ran out of those in the bin.

Unique to all air cars or just the C-2s? In C-3s the speakers come no where close to the air ducts.

Just the C2s, like you said, the C3 were either in the kick panels or the ends of the dash and far away from the ductwork.

But I have heard of people putting regular speakers in with air, and the difference is only like 1/2-3/4 inch, so it isn't all that much.

He called it a core, and I bet that was all it was. Typical case of someone bidding an insane amount assuming the bids would be normal and he didn't want to lose by $.09, like I just did on an item. However, one other bidder put in an insane amount to ensure not losing by that 9 cents also and the two insane amounts took it to a new level.

There are a lot more $500 bids on $20 items than you know. They just are typically lucky and don't have TWO on the same $20 item.

Either the seller will sell it at a realistic price to the winner after much debate, although higher than you think, or it will go up again.
