    C-2 Fuel line question

I am in the process of assembling my 67 Coupe. I am replacing the fuel line and can't find any info on exactly where the spring type wrap should be positioned. I know it should be at the kick-up some where...What is it for?? Thanks, Kurt

      Kurt,

It's a rock guard and it goes in front of the kick-up from the inside of the frame and thru a hole about half way up. Then it goes thru the frame and out a hole on the top of the frame about 10 inches from the end of the frame. There is a clamp on the top and it then terminates to the hose from the tank.

But where should the rock guard be positioned? It slides on the line, I would think it is held in position with the mounting clamp on the kick-up. Kurt

          Kurt,

The spring is at the kickup and terminates just before it goes into the frame. There is a small white plastic grommet that protects the gas line at the hole. Yes there is a clamp about midway of that point.

The link below has a picture of the guard on my 63 frame and a scan of the fuel line installation from the 63 assembly manual. Note that in the AIM, the guard on the kickup is shown, but is not detailed with a part number. Perhaps it was considered an integral part of the fuel line. There is another guard that is positioned on the fuel line inside the frame. In the AIM it is referred to as a loom. Mine is made out of something that looks alot like fiber gasket material.
