    56 dash

    Hi all,
My 56 dash has had the tach opening enlarged about 1/4 inch all the way around. I am looking advice about how some others have repaired similar areas. Also advice on repair of cracks that are all the way through the deck lid reinforcement near the hinge attachment would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Steve #28428

awfully tough to add back the 1/4" bubba-induced loss of tach opening without it showing up as the repair ages. you aren't gonna like this, but only permanent cure is to replace the lower half of the dash.good luck, mike

        Re: 56 dash

in 1969, i bought a 250,000 mile 57 250hp pg vette for 450 bucks. i needed the left front fender for my 283hp 4 speed 57(which was a staggering 950 bucks a year earlier). i removed the virgin fender from the pg FI and removed a GM supplied hand laid left front fender from the 4 speed vette. i then decided to toss a 427 in the old pg vet and drove it daily for about 5 years. one day at the local junk yard, i came across a late 60's caddy am/fm radio. ole Bubba mikie got out the grinder and opened up the stock 57 radio opening to accomidate the caddy radio.in the not too distant future, i'm gonna drag the ole 250 Pg vette out of the barn and get her done. i'll be replacing the lower half of its dash(picked one up in a w.va junkyard years ago). live and learn. bubba
