Are the u-bolts which hold the rear springs to the axile 7 1/2 inches long and are they the same length for the four. Also can anyone tell the name of the correct material that is in between each leaf of the springs.

U-bolts were used for all C1s to retain the spring to the axle. All are the same size.The bolts were 6-5/8" from the highest point to the bottom of the threads and 3-1/8" inside dimension between each end.
The C1 spring liners were a special waxed or otherwise coated fibrous material. If I recall correctly, they had steel "end caps". I think that these liners are available in reproduction from sources like Dr. Rebuild.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
