I am ordering a brass radiator tag for a DeWitt replacement radiator for my 58. Car build date is 2-15-58 so what should the tag date be? also, they want to know either the radiator number or serial number. I can't supply a vin number since my car has a state issued vin and I can't determine the original vin. Finally, I understand the tag is to be painted black like the radiator but, where is it located and how is it attached. As always, thanks for any help.

Ken, Slippery answer here, but...
...NCRS Judging Manual should give you the number of the radiator and where the tag is attached, soldered, I suspect, at top rear. DeWitt will know where it goes. Since your VIN is iffy until you check the frame, I'd put the radiator about 2 months before when you think car was assembled. Best, Dennis- Top

Also....
You can get a 'feel' for correct date by checking other dated components on the car that you KNOW to be original (e.g. generator, voltage regulator, distributor, engine components like block, intake exhaust manifolds, Etc. Do a little survey and you should get a feel for what's 'right' UNLESS there's nothing on the car you can trust to be factory original...- Top
