'65-66 BB Hood Grilles (black painted insets)

I've noticed that NONE of the service grilles have the black paint (check NOS eBay set-- link below). Does the '66 TIM & JG also call for the factory L36 / L72 production to have this black accent ?

Accent paint? The hood emblems were backstopped with a set of retainers and shields. The shields were painted black and put there to keep water from flowing into the engine compartment. The retainers were also painted black on the outward facing side as a cosmetic issue (black-out, keep your eye from picking up on the 'glint' of the forward retainer edges), but those details are basically black-out/cosmetically oriented and not 'accent' items...

My 66 coupe had argent silver on the sides of the grilles. In other words each side of the grille had silver and the space between had silver. The edge of the grille (vertical part)is chrome and the area that runs around the outer edge is chrome. The replacements are all chrome. Inorder to keep them looking original we are going to reapply the argent to the new Grilles. I had ask the same question when I recieved my replacement grilles. If you go to the local chev dealer you can order these parts. I Have found a number of trim parts there. I have also found that some of the parts through the dealer are from paragon. Hope this helps.

viz. black paint on inset of each of the 28 teeth

of the cast grille on each side of the hood. Was not refering to the rain shields nor to the 3 shield retainers on each (under)side. Just reciting the '65 TIM & JG. My L78 grilles are minus the black paint, but then this car had an unfortunate incident with a school bus in 1970.

Wondering what the '66 BB owners might have to say, as well.
