    'C2 ALTERNATOR BRUSH INSTALLATION

I put new bearings and brushes in my 093 alternator. Now I'm trying to remember what I used to hold the brushes in against the springs while assembling it last time I did this. Can someone refresh my memory so I don't have to start over figuring it out again?

    Rob-----

Usually, a round toothpick will do it (not a flat one, though). There is a provision (hole) in the brush holder for the toothpick and the toothpick then goes through a hole in the split ring (rear) case. After the case half is installed, you pull the toothpick out and all is well.

SERVICE brush holder assemblies (with brushes) are supplied with a plastic "toothpick" already installed for this purpose. However, the plastic "toothpicks" are not sold seperately. Usually, a round, wooden toothpick will suffice.

      Joe,

Thanks, it worked great. Took me a minute to realize exactly where the exit hole was for the toothpick, until it started coming out. Wish I knew this last time I did this.
